Faces of a new 2 year old

Working Girl

With A keeping some children at home now it is not as easy for her to come have lunch with me like she used to. But this weekend she did not have to work on Thurs or Fri so her and IzzyB decided to come make the trek to have lunch with me.

We had some yummy BBQ and then came back to the office to say hey to my co-workers.

IzzyB wanted to get up in my chair and when she did I snagged some good photos of her "working."

I told my boss I had found an apprentice and he said we should add her to the payroll.

The time outs

I think IzzyB might be being put into time out a lot lately. After she has been in time out for a little while we get on her level and ask her why she is in time out. Well now as we go to get her, she automatically stands up and says "time out, throw fits".
Which is exactly why she is in time out so much recently.

She's a pretty quick learner.

Pickin' at the guitar

She loves to strum the guitar. I recently showed her the picks to help
strum with and I'm still trying to decide if it was a good idea.

Life as I know it...right now

Other than pictures we have not updated the blog in awhile. I have noticed that I am not the only one though as a lot of our friends who now have a kid or now have more than one child have also slacked on updating their blogs. I believe kids are a good excuse now that I have one.

As my job has moved me to be more involved and IzzyB is way more active that I feel like I do not ever get to get on the computer at home. I constantly have to remind myself that when I get home I can't just sit on the couch and veg anymore.
But you know what makes it easier to be reminded of that? When I walk in the door after a day at work and I hear those little feet running and she turns the corner into the kitchen and yells "DADDY!" as she sees me.

I would always see those types of commercials or scenes in movies where this happened and it would warm my heart...but now as it happens to me it MELTS my heart. Just seeing her get so excited to see me and as she comes in running to give me a hug then asks mommy to join for a group hug...those are the best moments of my day.

One of her favorite things to do is to go check the mailbox with me. She always yells out "MAIL!" after I ask her if she wants to go check the mail with me. So we march outside and I give her a piece of junk mail to carry back to the house and she is always so proud to carry it in as she helps daddy.

All of this to say, as IzzyB is growing, learning, being adventurous, and seems to get into trouble more and more frequently, I have less time to sit down and update the blog. I will try to upload pictures as I remember to. Thanks for listening and I hope everyone is well!

Ice cream date

Amy and I swore we would hold off on sugars for IzzyB for a long time.
We have found that the expectations you had for your parenting styles
before you have children go out the window when the child arrives. We
don't give her sugary stuff everyday but we do give her treats
occasionally. But this day I took her to the golden arches and we
shared an ice cream cone. We both enjoyed it and had a great time
while mommy was away. The ride home with the windows down and IzzyB on
a sugar high rush was highly entertaining for me. I highly under
estimated the amounts of laughter this little girl would bring me.

YouTube videos before bed

We do read her books before bed but tonight was extra special...watching dolphins and dancing dogs on YouTube! I bet our parents never thought we'd be raising our kids on wireless devices watching videos from around the world.

Three Zero

Another Monday has passed but it was a unique Monday. On this Monday I turned 30 years old. It is shocking to me that I am now thirty and I am sure my parents are flipping out that I am now thirty. I know I cannot imagine IzzyB being thirty years old at all and when it happens I am sure I will wonder where the years have gone.

It is quite unique how Facebook has brought about the networking that allows everyone who is a friend to send you a quick message to wish you happy birthday. I know some people argue that they only sent the message because they get the reminder on the sign in page but it still takes a little bit of effort to navigate over to one's wall (OK, no effort at all but humor me). Just saying it does make me feel good that people sent little messages or "wall postings" to me on my birthday. Even though there are many cons to this social networking craze our society is now neck deep in, it is still incredible that we are connected to people from our childhood and past to the people we see every week.

All this to say, "Thank You" to all who have wished me a happy birthday today.
Now I need to go renew online my driver's license that is about to expire...
